Why Miss Independent Is Ok

"One can either be a boss ass bitch or someone else's bitch" -Heidi Johnson

Yes, this quote is from me. Yes, I just quoted myself. Deal with it.

I recall coming up with this statement my senior year of high school while talking about relationships with some of my friends, this was my point of view. Not saying I'm anti-relationships, I just think if you're going to invest so much time and energy into someone, it should be worth it.

I choose to live with the mentality that I am in school and I am here for myself, and it is important to focus on myself and my needs. Not only that, but I want to feel free to aspire any goals of mine without feeling guilty of neglecting a potential lover because I am focused on myself.

The point in which I am at in life right now is the time in which I need to be selfish. Although I am HARDCORE struggling, my time now is devoted to focusing on school, health, and my friendships.

Pic of me doing my thang ;)

I like to look at it this way, if I want to be with someone is making the extra effort to better themselves in their everyday lives, I should be doing the same damn thing. I can't expect no Romeo to sweep me off my lazy ass feet buried under my blanket Netflix watching ass when I damn well know my booty ass should be at the gym. To this day, I am not ready for a relationship, but I will someday be there.

If you are in the same position I am, take a deep breath because GIRL, it will be A-OK. Our time may not be today, but that's probably a good thing for our ratchet asses. Focus on what's important and everything will soon fall into place.

12 Reasons Why I Need To Become More Girly

Over my recent spring break, I have discovered I have the cleanliness level of a teenage boy who doesn't give a shit about school and just wants to smoke weed every day.

So I have come to terms that it is time for me to make a dramatic change, and probably start, I don't know, probably GIVING A SHIT.

I decided the best way to approach this is by choosing to live with a more girly mindset. You know how Youtubers have perfect apartments with a white color scheme and everything is always in perfect order. I'm not sure I can attain that level of "perfection" but it will surely be my inspiration.

So here is a list of things I will strive to do when making changes and adapting to this new lifestyle.

1) Make my bed every day so I don't fucking lay in it after each class
2) Stop skipping class like a lazy ass and start giving a shit
3) Color coordinate my planner..and actually fill it out
4) I already do this but its never a bad idea to DRINK MORE WATAAAA
5) Start taking supplements in hope that it will result in some flowy tresses and beautiful glowing skin
6) Remove makeup every day. No questions.
7) Sticking to a skincare routine of face wash, toner, and moisturizer (moisturizer is keeeyyy)
8) Moisturize that neck!!!
9) Thou shall lather up body with unscented lotion post shower
10) Organize my desk other than the current "everything has its place" clutter it currently is
11) Go to the gym and do my friggin squats--> along with cardio and arm shit
12) Stop procrasting homework because girls who give a shit are always on top of their shit

What's the Story?

With my first semester of college now under my belt, I have allowed new views and perspectives into my life. One thing especially, is the impact social media can have on relationships.

Through my experience and careful observation, I have come to the conclusion that WE are ALL ordinary people (unless you are Beyonce). I don't care about how many followers you have, the amount of likes you get, or God forbid you double post.

For myself, in the past I am guilty about wanting to take a certain picture "for the gram", constantly checking the amount of likes a picture is getting, or needing the perfect caption. Yes I still believe coming up with captions is just a fun thing to do anyway, but worrying about everything else is so petty.

Some of the coolest people I have met within the first semester of college are one's you may not even be able to find on social media. Trust me, some of the best people out there are the one's who don't give a crap about social media..not as much as you do at least. I'm not saying go out and delete everything. I am only suggesting to you and myself that you stop "doing it for the gram" and just start living. And while you are living in your experiences, don't forget to take pictures so you can look back on your memories.

Stop allowing yourself to do something just to get a picture out of it, and live your life in the pursuit of happiness and leaving a story behind the photo.
